Pray For Your Pastor

Mike,

Thank you very much for your help.

Should this pastor be told that he does not behave properly? Who should do it? There are only two pastors/elders in the church and the other pastor thinks everything is all right.

Paula

Hi Paula,

If you have a good relationship with the pastor, you might sweetly ask him some of the questions I've suggested. Otherwise, you should simply pray for him. Ask God to make him more Christ like, to give him wisdom and grace. Pray that God would bless your pastor with every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus.

Then, I would also suggest that you work hard to encourage your pastor in everything he is doing well and if he is trying, even those things that he isn't doing very well. Cheer for him, root for him, build him up. Praise him every chance you get. Respect him. Serve him.

Then, when he respects you and asks for your opinion, you can gently share with him your views on pastors and girlfriends. Anything you do with him before he is ready to listen to you will come off as a gong and a clanging cymbal. Just a lot of noise and a quench on his spirit.

This will take a lot of love, perseverance, patience, and kindness on your part. But notice that all these things are fruit of the Spirit. So pray for yourself too. Remember that God loves your pastor more than you do. He loves your church more than you do. He loves you more than you do. God will glorify himself in you as you live for him in the way he has called you to.

I hope this helps.
